At Summerslam, Samoa Joe failed to capture the WWE Universal Championship during the Fatal Four Way. He was involved in a tag team match last week on Raw, but he was absent from this week’s show because “The Samoan Submission Machine” has received some bad news.

It’s being reported by PWInsider that Samoa Joe is suffering from a knee injury. John Cena exchanged harsh words with Roman Reigns and defeated Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows along with him, but the original plans for Raw this week was a match between Cena and Joe.
However, those plans were nixed when the latter suffered a knee injury over the weekend. It hasn’t been announced by WWE yet, but the expectation is Joe could miss up to four weeks as a result of the injury, which means he will also have to miss the upcoming No Mercy PPV.
Samoa Joe is currently riding a decent wave of momentum that has established him as a top heel on Raw. The sooner he returns to WWE television, the sooner Joe can continue to ride the wave. Until further notice, “The Samoan Submission Machine” will remain absent from TV.
