Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of Raw back in May and a few days later WWE announced that Banks and Naomi had been suspended indefinitely. It was also announced that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles had been vacated and that a tournament would be held to crown new champions.
With a new regime in charge of WWE it’s been rumored that Sasha Banks and Naomi could be returning soon which has left fans to wonder if they could be involved in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title tournament somehow.
Dave Meltzer addressed Sasha and Naomi’s status on the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast while saying that everyone expects that they’re coming back. It was speculated that since they’re not in the tournament they could show up for the finals, or right after the finals take place.
The idea is for WWE to stagger the appearances of new and returning stars, and Sasha and Naomi are the biggest ones they could bring in right now. The belief is that Sasha Banks and Naomi will be involved with the tournament somehow, it’s just a matter of which week.
