For months now a mysterious devil figure has been tormenting MJF. The devil figure also has a number of henchmen working for him and his minions have attacked a few other AEW stars in addition to MJF.

This week on AEW Dynamite, Samoa Joe & MJF were set to defend the ROH Tag Team Titles against two of the masked henchmen, but Joe was shown backstage before the match selling an injury from an attack. The devil’s henchmen ended up beating MJF to win the ROH Tag Team Titles and after the match it was revealed that Samoa Joe had been working with the devil the whole time when he turned on MJF.

There’s been a lot of talk in the wrestling world recently regarding who could be under the devil mask, and who the devil’s henchmen could be. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that even though Shawn Spears hasn’t been making appearances on AEW programming he was used as one of the devil’s henchmen at a recent taping.

It’s not clear if there are plans for Shawn Spears to be part of a big reveal, or if he was simply playing one of the devil’s henchmen as a one time thing. Earlier this week it was reported that Shawn Spears’ is parting ways with AEW and will become a free agent as of January 1. Spears confirmed the news when he issued a statement on social media confirming his departure.

Tony Khan has indicated that the devil’s identity will likely be revealed at the Worlds End pay-per-view on Saturday, so it will be interesting to see where it goes from here.
