Last week two dozen wrestlers were released from WWE, which means there will be a number of free agents in the months to come. Aleister Black was one of the names who got cut, and some fans are wondering if he could potentially return to AEW at some point.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the possibility of Aleister Black returning to All Elite Wrestling, and he noted that people in the company are “pretty negative” when it comes to the idea.
“The idea of Aleister Black and AEW was not fondly thought out by the people I spoke with there [in AEW]. Now, I did not speak to Tony Khan.
“Andrade was mixed. I know people there that were not high on Andrade at all and others who were. Black, from what I gathered, pretty negative. There were even people who publicly said that. That they were negative on Black.”
Aleister Black was originally released from WWE in June of 2021 and he went on to debut with AEW in July of that same year. He remained with AEW up until February of 2025 when his contract expired and he later went on to return to WWE in April of 2025.
