Paige is a hot topic in the wrestling community right now. If you’ve been following the Paige/Alberto Del Rio situation over the past month or so then you’re probably well aware that the story has had many twists and turns.
Yesterday WWE officially announced that Alberto Del Rio has been released from his WWE contract. Del Rio later held a press conference saying that he is grateful for his time in WWE, and he also talked about his future. You can get more on that here.
Paige was also in attendance for the press conference but she didn’t sit with Del Rio and she didn’t address her WWE status. Earlier this week MMA source Front Row Brian, who has broken wrestling news in the past, claimed that Paige has quit WWE and hired legal representation.
Dave Meltzer posted an update on the situation on F4Wonline.com, and according to the report, it did appear earlier in the week that the former Divas Champion was gone from WWE, but now that’s not the case.
According to people who have knowledge of the situation, Paige was basically in the same situation AJ Lee was in when CM Punk left WWE, the biggest difference being that WWE isn’t taking legal action against Del Rio.
As noted, Alberto Del Rio will now be going by the name of Alberto El Patron and he is going to have a busy week next week.
Alberto will be wrestling for WCPW at their event in Newcastle on September 15. He will also be wrestling for World Association of Wrestling on September 16 and 17, which is owned by Paige’s father Ricky Knight.
Dear Dave Meltzer. Please stop posting rumours, you have no more idea than the rest of us whats going on. Thanks in advance….
