There seems to be a black cloud hanging out the WWE and NXT rosters as of late, as a few stars have been taken out of action by unfortunate injuries. Last week during a tag team match at a live event in Highland Heights, KY, Tommaso Ciampa injured his ankle and the match had to be stopped.

The match featured Team DIY facing off against SAnity, and at one point Ciampa jumped off the ring apron to the outside, but he landed wrong. Fans feared the worst, but Triple H confirmed the next day that Tommaso Ciampa would be good to go for the ladder match at TakeOver: Chicago.

Ciampa did indeed compete in the ladder match for the NXT Tag Team Titles at TakeOver: Chicago, but Team DIY lost the match after the Authors of Pain managed to retrieve the belts.

After the match Ciampa got everyone talking when he turned on Johnny Gargano and absolutely wrecked his former partner.

Tommaso Ciampa was using a crutch at this week’s NXT tapings, and it appears that he may be in worse shape that originally thought.

PWInsider is reporting that Ciampa suffered another injury during the ladder match at TakeOver: Chicago, and he’s set to undergo surgery in Birmingham, Alabama. No word right now on how long Ciampa will be out of action.

During this week’s NXT tapings the injured star told fans that he would be going away for a while, but he vowed to become the most dangerous man in NXT when he returns.
