Monday Night Raw is currently on the USA Network, but it is reported that this deal is due to come to an end in 2019 and FOX are hoping to step in and take over the broadcasting rights of one of the biggest programs on TV.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer is currently reporting that FOX is looking to make a deal with WWE in the coming months so that they can secure their TV rights if the USA Network doesn’t want to renew them. FOX is a much bigger network than WWE and it seems that it could offer WWE much more worldwide exposure than USA.
The one drawback of a deal with the FOX Network is that because of their 10 pm news cycle, WWE would be forced to return Monday Night Raw to the previous format of just two hours. With the Cruiserweight Division currently having its own problems, it seems that if 205 Live is cancelled then it would make sense that Raw would return to two hours without the input of this division.
Nothing is set in stone yet, but it is reported that WWE COO Triple H held a summit with the head of FOX News last year and this was said to have been productive. So whether or not WWE will use this attention to force USA into a new deal, or decide to move to the FOX network is something that will obviously be decided in the coming months.
