At the moment there’s certainly no shortage of WWE programming for fans to consume, and it looks like the company could potentially be adding to their content library by bringing an old series back.
PWInsider reports that WWE recently filed a trademark for “Tough Enough” on 10/25, and the trademark is being filed on the term for “G & S: Toys, namely, action figures, accessories therefor; dolls; cases for action figures; toy wrestling rings; playsets for use with action figures; toy vehicles; board games; tabletop action skill games; construction toys; playing cards; puzzles; stuffed toys; plush toys; toy belts; knee and elbow pads for athletic use; toy foam hands; costume masks; novelty face masks; Christmas tree decorations; toy spinning tops; arcade games; kites; bobble-head dolls; puppets; card games”
However, at this point in time it’s not known if the trademark was filed for nostalgic purposes, merchandising purposes, or if the company is looking to film a new season of the series.
Last year an idea was reportedly pitched for a new reality series that would combine concepts from Tough Enough and the Diva Search.
The idea was to use the show to seek out a new female star, and the show would have seen competitors travel on the road with WWE in a tour bus. The cast would compete in weekly competitions where competitors would be eliminated with the last contestant getting a WWE contract.
