205 Live has been searching for good main events. They hit a home run with the ‘I Forfeit’ match between Gentleman Jack Gallagher and Ariya Daivari, and on February 7th they did another amazing job of keeping fans glued to their seats in Seattle.
The #1 contenders for the Cruiserweight Title would be determined in a fatal 5-way elimination match between Jack Gallagher, TJ Perkins, Cedric Alexander, Noam Dar, and Tony Nese
However, the opening of the show saw Corey Graves announcing that Tony Nese was injured in last night’s melee during Raw so he wouldn’t be in the main event match. Therefore the 5th spot would be decided in a match between Ariya Daivari and Mustafa Ali.
Mustafa Ali ended up going over in a shorter match against Daivari with his patented top-rope finisher. It was a pretty good match with several highlights, they definitely fit a lot into that short time frame.
After that match, they aired a short package for Gran Metalik who will be premiering next week.
Lince Dorado took on Brian Kendrick next and Kendrick came away with the victory with the Captain’s Hook submission. Lince tapped very quickly once the move was applied. After the match, Austin Aries interviewed Kendrick where he cut a promo on Akira Tozawa and invited him to the ring to face him, but Tajiri answered the call instead.
The Japanese Buzzsaw appeared behind Kendrick and blew his green mist in Brian’s face. Tajiri looked very pleased with himself as he slid out of the ring.
The main event was intense and full of many high spots. Each one of these guys were trying to grab that proverbial brass ring for sure. One of the best spots of the match saw Gallagher jumping onto every one of his competitors off the top rope with his umbrella, William III in tow doing his best impression of Mary Poppins plummeting to her death.
After many back-and-forth moments, Cedric Alexander eliminated Noam Dar after a Lumbar Check. Cedric Alexander was interrupted by Noam Dar before he was about hit TJ Perkins with a top-rope maneuver, and Perkins hit Alexander with a Detonation Kick to take him out of the match.
Mustafa Ali missed an inverted 450 splash on Jack Gallagher, which resulted in Perkins slapping a cross-armbreaker submission on Ali that caused him to tap quickly.
Gallagher and Perkins got to go at it for a little bit by themselves and each man got a good bit of business off against each other. The crowd was pretty vocal during this contest and it seemed like they were really over. Gallagher was trapped in Perkins’ kneebar for a minute, but he was able to get himself to the bottom rope to break the hold.
TJ hit Jack with a Detonation Kick, but Gallagher hit Perkins with a stiff looking headbutt and got a close two-count. These guys were doing a good job of selling, no matter what people might say about cruiserweight wrestling.
Gentleman Jack hit another vicious looking headbutt and followed it up with a great dropkick in the corner. Jack hooked Perkins’ legs and got the three-count.
Jack Gallagher is headed to Fastlane as Neville’s challenger for the Cruiserweight Title.
