Mustafa Ali has been trying to make a name for himself on the main roster for a while now, and he’s been getting quite a bit of TV time ever since he was revealed to be the leader of RETRIBUTION.
Last year in March of 2019 WWE shortened Mustafa Ali’s name to Ali, but his full name was restored ahead of the Survivor Series pay-per-view.
Ali recently responded to a tweet from a fan who commented on how WWE’s announcers can’t pronounce his name correctly, and he noted that was the reason why it was shortened in the first place.
“I was afraid of what would happen. I was terrified my name would be too difficult to pronounce, so it would be taken away. And it happened. I had to fight for my name. Now, I’m fighting for it be pronounced correctly. I don’t expect people to understand the weight of all that.”
