Roman Reigns successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Jey Uso at SummerSlam on Saturday night, but unfortunately the Wrestling Observer recently reported that The Tribal Chief suffered an injury early on in the match.

Fightful Select is also reporting that Roman Reigns was hurt during the main event at SummerSlam, but is still planned to appear on Friday Night SmackDown this week.

Following SummerSlam the word going around was that Roman Reigns was not advertised for any WWE TV episodes over the coming months. It’s been confirmed that Roman Reigns is in the plans for SmackDown and there aren’t any plans for him to miss his internally scheduled appearances, although that could always change.

WWE didn’t respond to any official inquiries, but Fightful noted that they’ve also heard the injury happened early on in the match. There were people who would likely be in the know who weren’t even aware of Roman’s injury until the news broke, but as of Tuesday afternoon the situation has not changed plans for creative.
