money in the bank

Sunday night Jinder Mahal shocked the world when he defeated Randy Orton to become the new WWE Champion at Backlash. Now that Backlash has come and gone, it’s on to the Money in the Bank pay-per-view which is set to air on the WWE Network on June 18.

Shane McMahon kicked off SmackDown Live this week with the Money in the Bank briefcase hanging above the ring and he made a few important announcements. The first thing Shane announced was that Randy Orton will get a WWE Championship rematch at Money in the Bank where he will face Jinder Mahal.

Shane announced that there will be 5 participants in the Money in the Bank ladder match, and AJ Styles made his way out to the ring first. Baron Corbin then made his way out into the arena followed by Sami Zayn. Dolph Ziggler then made his way out and Shane McMahon looked like he was about to say something, but Kevin Owens’ music hit.

Shane McMahon then cut Kevin Owens off before he had a chance to speak, and he told Owens that he’s not in the match. Shane McMahon then introduced Shinsuke Nakamura.

Kevin Owens then argued that he should be in the match because he beat AJ Styles at Backlash. Owens told Shane he was making a bad decision, and Shane reconsidered then added Owens to the match.

Baron Corbin then got in KO’s face, then AJ Styles reminded everyone that SmackDown is the house that AJ Styles built. AJ said he doesn’t care who he has to beat, he’s going to show everyone why he’s the franchise player on SmackDown, and he’s going to get his WWE Championship back.

Sami Zayn and Corbin then talked trash to each other on the mic, and then Ziggler said he’s the only one in the ring who’s ever won Money in the Bank, and he’s going to do it again.

Finally Shinsuke Nakamura got on the mic and he pointed at Dolph Ziggler and told him that he’s Shinsuke Nakamura, but you can call him Mr. Money in the Bank.

Shane McMahon then booked Baron Corbin vs. Sami Zayn and AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura vs Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler for the main event.
