MJF is the current AEW World Champion, but he’s been talking about the bidding war of 2024 for quite some time now. He hasn’t been shy about teasing a jump to WWE while claiming that he’s interested in signing with whoever offers him the most money.

It was recently reported that MJF quietly signed a new deal with All Elite Wrestling. However, the current AEW World Champion claimed that he has not signed a new deal yet during an appearance on the SI Media Podcast.

“I’ve been saying the same thing [about my contract expiration date]. I never lied. January 1st, 2024. When stuff like that gets leaked out, it makes me laugh because I remember something leaked out about Cody [Rhodes] having secretly re-signed and then he showed up [in WWE]. Something got leaked out about, you know, CM Punk and Tony Khan or you know… I think fans leak out things that they want to be true. I love AEW, I wanna stay in AEW. After this pay-per-view [Worlds End], it’s time to assess the situation for a professional setting. So… not yet [I haven’t re-signed].”

MJF hasn’t mentioned the bidding war of 2024 nearly as much since he turned babyface months ago, but it seems that it’s still a talking point for him. Currently MJF is set to defend his AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe at the upcoming World’s End pay-per-view, so it will be interesting to see how things play out and if MJF’s claim about not signing a new deal is simply part of storyline plans for him.

Stay tuned for updates.
