The Miz and Daniel Bryan have a long history together. Miz has been a thorn in Daniel Bryan’s side ever since he arrived on the first season of NXT, and it’s clear from the way they interact with each other on WWE programming that they’re not fond of one another.
It seems like almost every week Daniel Bryan and The Miz get into a verbal battle on Talking Smack and The Miz was recently asked by Sportskeeda if their rivalry is real.
“I’ll let you decide that. If you saw the passion I had when Daniel Bryan called me out on Talking Smack – you basically saw me go absolutely nuts. It’s one of those things, Daniel and I have had our ups and downs I guess you could say. I was his pro when he was a rookie in WWE and I was the person who brought him up and did he ever appreciate that? No, he didn’t. I guess I don’t take a liking to Daniel Bryan. Do I respect the guy? I kind of have to, he’s my General Manager and the guy who calls all the shots.”
Daniel Bryan said repeatedly on this week’s episode of SmackDown that he would love to punch The Miz in the face. With all of the tension between The Miz and Daniel Bryan, there’s been a lot of speculation, and wishful thinking, that Bryan could come out of retirement.
It seems unlikely that WWE will let Daniel Bryan wrestle again, although Bryan doesn’t seem to be counting out an in-ring return after his contract expires.
The Miz was also asked if he would rather main event WrestleMania, or face Daniel Bryan, and it seems that as far as The Miz is concerned, a match with Daniel Bryan isn’t on his radar.
“I would like to be in the main event of WrestleMania as always. To be completely honest Daniel Bryan can’t wrestle anymore, and it’s unfortunate for him but the fact is I can. I’d rather be in the main event of WrestleMania every time, all day every day because that’s where The Miz belongs.”
On this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, Daniel Bryan confirmed that The Miz and Maryse will team up to take on John Cena and Nikki Bella in a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando.
The Miz has already beaten John Cena once at WrestleMania, and on April 2nd, he’ll have his chance to do it again.
