There’s always constant movement in the professional wrestling world and last month Mick Foley officially made the jump to All Elite Wrestling when he made his first appearance at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Foley has been outspoken about his reasons for parting ways with WWE, and he recently shared some praise for AEW.
During a recent appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, Mick Foley compared WWE’s approach to booking their midcard to AEW’s approach, and he explained why he thinks AEW is doing a better job in that regard.
“This is one of the first things I said to Tony, AEW has done a really good job of making their midcard mean something. That’s one place where I will compare the two companies. They do a much better job in the midcard. I think there’s just a little bit more pride.
“Going back to the way WWE did things, they would build a tag team for two or three years, have them win the tag team title multiple times, and then two big stars who’d never teamed would face the tag team and destroy them. Showing you that the tag team was never that important to begin with. That’d be the message that I would get as a fan.”
