Mauro Ranallo Takes A Shot At WWE During MMA Event, Reveals His Future With Wrestling

Mauro Ranallo was a breath of fresh air when he first joined WWE, and most fans seemed to love his over the top style. Mauro called every match like it was a WrestleMania main event, but it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing Mauro Ranallo behind a WWE commentary table anytime soon, as he’s reportedly done with the company.

Ranallo is highly respected in the broadcasting world, but apparently he just didn’t fit the mold in regards to what WWE looks for in a commentator, as it’s been rumored that his over the top style wasn’t exactly Vince McMahon’s cup of tea. Working as a commentator in WWE isn’t an easy job, because it means you constantly have Vince McMahon in your ear, and there are quite a few words that Vince McMahon doesn’t like to hear on WWE programming.

Over the years WWE has made a big push to refer to wrestlers as “superstars” and professional wrestling as “sports entertainment.” Using words like “professional wrestling” during a WWE broadcast is a big no-no, but now that Mauro Ranallo is no longer with the company he can say what he wants.

Over the weekend Mauro called the action for the Rizin FF5: Sakura event, and he took a little jab at WWE by using a few forbidden words while introducing a fighter named Jazzy Gabert.

“Professional wrestler, and boy does it feel good to be able to use that term again, turned mixed martial artist, The Alpha Female, Jazzy Gabert.”

Check out the clip below.

Hopefully this isn’t the last time we hear Mauro use the words “professional wrestler” as he also noted on Twitter that he’s not done calling wrestling.
