The wrestling world is still processing the WWE releases that took place last week as some surprising names were let go including Dolph Ziggler, Elias, Shelton Benjamin, Mustafa Ali and Matt Riddle. Now that these names have been cut there’s a lot of speculation regarding what will happen once the released wrestlers become free agents.

Dave Meltzer recently discussed Matt Riddle’s future on Wrestling Observer Radio and he noted that there is at least one major promotion that wants Riddle to return to MMA.

“I do know that Riddle has got at least one major MMA promotion, if not more, that are interested in bringing him back to MMA.”

Matt Riddle first broke into the MMA scene when he appeared on The Ultimate Fighter season seven and he went on to compete in UFC, Bellator and Titan FC. He has an overall MMA record of eight wins, three losses, and two no-contests. Riddle then started training for professional wrestling in 2014 and made his debut in 2015. From there Matt Riddle worked on the independent circuit for a few years before signing with WWE in 2018.
