Last year Maria Kanellis got pregnant again, and WWE decided to turn her pregnancy into a storyline.
Mike and Maria Kanellis ended up in one of the top storylines on Monday Night Raw when Maria claimed that Mike was not the father of the baby.
For weeks the father’s true identity was teased, but the storyline came to an abrupt end after Mike asked for his release from WWE and the angle was dropped.
A fan recently asked Maria Kanellis who the father was supposed to be in the storyline, and Maria revealed that the plan was for Mike to turn face and be revealed as the father.
“My husband. He was supposed to turn face. And do a story about recovery from addiction and motivation. But… that’s just too good. Too real. Too honest. And of course I was supposed to remain the bad guy. 😘 until I came back from maternity leave. Baby face momma!!”

Mike and Maria both signed new WWE contracts last year, but they are no longer part of the roster as they were released back in April after WWE announced coronavirus related budget cuts.
