Money in the Bank aired live from the O2 Arena in London, England on Saturday and the show featured some surprising moments. Shayna Baszler ended up turning on Ronda Rousey while they were defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, and Baszler’s attack on her partner allowed Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez to win the gold. Many people were shocked when Baszler turned on Rousey, but it sounds like there was a reason for it.
Dave Meltzer recently talked about the turn on Wrestling Observer Radio and he noted that Ronda Rousey has a “hard out” in her contract. Rousey is reportedly getting ready to wrap things up with WWE, but she wants to feud with Shayna Baszler before she’s done.
“This was always, always, always the plan. What screwed it up, and admittedly, and everyone will admit this, as far as it was screwed up – when I was telling everyone a long time ago, hey, Ronda and Shayna are gonna win the tag team titles, it kept getting delayed and then Ronda got hurt.
“The thing was, and I don’t know the date, it might be SummerSlam, it might be a little bit after. The deal is that Ronda has a hard out. She gave a date, ‘This is my last date.’
“Because I remember talking to somebody there and it’s like, well, I know they’re gonna do this, make the big match for WrestleMania, and it’s like, ‘No, her hard out is long before WrestleMania.'”
It was also noted that originally the plan was for Shayna & Ronda to have a longer title reign, but they didn’t have the time to make that happen. Rousey wants to feud with Baszler because Baszler get her into pro wrestling and this is Ronda’s way of paying her back. It’s not known how many matches they will have, but it’s being said that the Ronda vs. Shayna feud has to happen now.
