William Regal made the jump to AEW earlier this year after he was released from WWE, but it was recently confirmed that Regal is parting ways with AEW, and he’s expected to return to WWE next month.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that William Regal will be doing far more than just coaching his son as he’s expected to have a Vice President role when he starts working with WWE again in January. It’s unclear if his position will involve recruiting talent for WWE, but he now has a personal relationship with a lot of the younger talent in All Elite Wrestling.
Regal signed with AEW on March 7, 2022 while still under contract with WWE. William Regal had a talent contract, and an employee contract. His talent contract and non-compete had expired, but his employee contract was still valid until April.
It’s not clear how things were worked out legally, but Vince MccMahon allowed William Regal to sign with AEW while paying him for the remainder of his contract. So for a few weeks he was being paid by both AEW and WWE.
