For months now fans have been wondering what the future holds for Sasha Banks, and it appears that she is done with WWE. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE agreed to release Sasha Banks and let her be a free agent without freezing her deal with the idea being that she couldn’t do anything wrestling related until 2023. Banks was reportedly in negotiations with the new WWE regime in the fall, and at one point it was considered to be a done deal, but the two sides were far apart on money.

Sasha Banks was seeking a number along the levels of what WWE pays Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, but people internally have said that she wasn’t offered anything close to that. Internally Sasha is not seen as someone who the company would put on top for the next five years. The Boss is seen as someone who could hold a singles or tag team title, but the perception is that she has peaked as a star.

The former SmackDown Women’s Champion is set to be at Wrestle Kingdom in January and she will not be using the name Sasha Banks. WWE is not involved in her deal with NJPW and she will be free to work with the company on January 1st.

People in WWE still believe that Sasha Banks will return to the company at some point. However, no one has any idea when Banks could return due to the money issue.
