For years the King of the Ring tournament was a mainstay on WWE programming, but the tournament has gotten as much recognition recently. Originally the show was an annual event from 1993 to 2002, the last King of the Ring took place in 2021, and WWE also introduced the Queen’s Crown tournament that same year.

Now Wrestlenomics is reporting that WWE is currently set to hold a King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring tournament on May 27th. It appears that the Queen of the Ring name will be replacing the original Queen’s Crown tournament.

It’s also being reported that the Backlash premium live event will return on May 6th. At this point in time locations for King of the Ring and Backlash have not been confirmed, but there’s speculation that one of the events could take place from Saudi Arabia.

In 2021 the finals of the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournament took place from Saudi Arabia at the Crown Jewel premium live event. Xavier Woods managed to become King of the Ring while Zelina Vega won the first ever Queen’s Crown tournament. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
