Roman Reigns has had a target on his back for some time now and in recent weeks several challengers have stepped up to declare that they want to take the gold from The Tribal Chief.

This week on Friday Night SmackDown, Randy Orton, LA Knight and AJ Styles faced off in a triple threat match to determine who would challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble premium live event later this month.

At one point all three men were battling at the ringside area and Randy Orton dropped LA Knight on the SmackDown announce table. Orton tried to do the same to AJ Styles, but Styles reversed it an dropped Orton on the announce table instead.

The match featured several near falls with each man busting out their signature moves. LA Knight hit Orton with the BFT, but when the ref went for the three count AJ grabbed the referee’s hand at two so he couldn’t finish the count. Styles then followed up by hitting a springboard 450 splash on Knight for a two count.

AJ Styles set LA Knight up for a Styles Clash then threw him out of the ring as Randy Orton approached. Styles went for a Phenomenal Forearm on Orton, but Orton countered into the RKO. It looked like Orton had it won, but Knight pulled the referee out of the ring as he was counting the pin.

Randy Orton’s music then hit and The Bloodline came down to the ring. The Bloodline attacked all of the competitors while the ref was knocked out. Roman powerbombed AJ Styles then speared LA Knight as SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis looked on. Jimmy Uso threw Randy Orton in the ring then solo picked him up. Roman hit the spear on Orton while Solo hit the Samoan Spike at the same time.

Nick Aldis approached Paul Heyman on the outside of the ring and told him that Roman will be defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match against AJ Styles, LA Knight and Randy Orton in a fatal four way match at the Royal Rumble.
