We’re currently on the road to SummerSlam and the Undisputed WWE Championship picture has been shaken up in a major way. Sami Zayn pinned Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions, but Sami dropped the title after only nine days when CM Punk returned and defeated Sami in the main event on Raw after Cody Rhodes was written out of the match.
Now it seems that CM Punk and Cody Rhodes are on a collision course as WRKD Wrestling is reporting that current plans call for CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes to take place at SummerSlam.
Prior to his return on Raw this week CM Punk last appeared on the Raw after WrestleMania in April in a segment with Cody Rhodes. A title match between the two was heavily teased as Punk looked at the belt and told Cody he was going to stay ready, because you never know when a title opportunity is going to fall out of the sky.
There’s currently no word on what this means for Sami Zayn, but with WWE set to move forward with plans for CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, it appears that Sami is out of the title picture.
SummerSlam will air live from US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd. The current card can be seen below.
