WWE pulled out all the stops at SummerSlam over the weekend as the show featured several big matches including Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler. The former partners faced off in a MMA rules match which saw Shayna Baszler pick up arguably the biggest win of her wrestling career so far when she defeated Ronda Rousey.
Ahead of SummerSlam it was reported that plans for Ronda Rousey’s feud with Shayna Baszler were pushed up because Ronda was on her way out of WWE. Now that SummerSlam has come and gone Ronda seemingly confirmed her departure when she posted the following on Instagram:
“@qosbaszler you were the reason I got into this business… Now I got no reason to stay”
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that Ronda’s match with Shayna Baszler was her farewell from WWE for now. There’s currently no word on whether or not Ronda Rousey will be back for a third run with the company at some point in the future, but it seems that the door is open for her to return down the road.
