It’s been over a year since CM Punk returned to WWE and he’s wrestled a handful of matches since then. The Second City Saint picked up two wins over Ludwig Kaiser at recently live events in New York City and Pittsburgh, and he’s currently set for another match at the WWE live event in Chicago on Sunday.
Recently Gunther took to social media to confirm that he will be facing off against CM Punk for the first time ever at the Allstate Arena on December 29. Gunther’s post confirms that he will be putting the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line when he defends the belt against CM Punk in a steel cage.

Seth Rollins and Bronson Reed were originally set to face off in a steel cage match at the event, but obviously that won’t be happening because Reed is currently out of action due to injury.
Sami Zayn is set to challenge Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship and Liv Morgan, Rey Mysterio, Raquel Rodriguez and The Wyatt Sicks are also being advertised.
