Kurt Angle was able to achieve major success throughout his wrestling career and he held numerous championships in both WWE and TNA Wrestling. The Hall of Famer has also openly discussed his issues with addiction.
The nickname “Perc Angle” if often referenced among fans on social media, and it seems that Kurt has taken notice. Recently the former WWE Champion addressed the nickname while thanking his fans when he posted the following:
“I’ve noticed the ‘Perc Angle’ nickname trending on social media. While I know it’s made in jest, it reminds me of a time when I struggled deeply with addiction and mental health challenges.
Those memories are painful, but they also fuel my commitment to helping others. I’ve been clean for 12 years and have since built a life dedicated to purpose and service.
Addiction destroys lives, but it’s never too late to get help. I appreciate all the positive feedback and support. To my fans: thank you for never giving up on me. I love you all.
-Kurt Angle”
Kurt Angle competed in his final match when he was defeated by Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35. Angle has remained retired since then and recently noted that fans won’t be seeing him return to the ring for John Cena’s farewell tour. Even though we won’t be getting another Angle vs. Cena match, Kurt Angle has a specific name in mind for Cena’s final opponent and you can get more on that here.
