Kevin Owens us the current WWE Universal Champion, and everyone is gunning for his title. He’ll be putting the belt on the line a against Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble on January 29th, and his best friend Chris Jericho will be suspended above the ring in a shark cage during the match.

If Kevin Owens manages to retain his title at the event, it’s possible that the winner of the Royal Rumble match will use their title shot to challenge KO at WrestleMania. This year’s Royal Rumble match is loaded with big names such as Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker and Goldberg, and when Sky Sports asked Owens which big star he’d like to face at WrestleMania, he named Taker.

“If I had to narrow it down to one [to face at WrestleMania] it would be The Undertaker. He is synonymous with that event and I was always in awe of him – as a kid, teenager and adult.”

There are a few names on the WWE and NXT rosters that have the potential to become big stars over the next few years, and Kevin Owens also talked about potential WrestleMania headliners. The current Universal Champion noted that Shinsuke Nakamura is someone who looks like he belongs in a WrestleMania main event.

“I think if you look at NXT, the one guy who seems like he would belong in a WrestleMania main event is Nakamura, because of the aura and the buzz that he gets. He is able to grab the attention of people who don’t really know who he is right away with his mannerisms and entrance – by the time he gets to the ring, you are kind of hooked.”

Kevin Owens isn’t the only one who has a big title defense set for Royal Rumble weekend. Shinsuke Nakamura will also be defending his NXT Championship against Bobby Roode at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio which is set to air live on the WWE Network on January 28th, the night before the Royal Rumble.
