At SummerSlam in 2011, CM Punk defeated John Cena to become the Undisputed WWE Champion, but his celebration was short lived. Kevin Nash appeared out of nowhere and attacked CM Punk which led to Alberto Del Rio cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

CM Punk and Kevin Nash then kicked off a feud which played out on TV, but never culminated with a match. During a recent episode of his Kliq This podcast Kevin Nash explained why the match didn’t happen while sharing some insight into Triple H’s views on CM Punk at the time.

“[Triple H] was with [the Kliq] and we were all ruthless and we were all very driven for our success and it’s such a different Paul now and I know that when I was supposed to wrestled Punk.

He just got under Triple H’s skin so bad, Paul just came up to me and said, ‘I’m gonna beat him. You’re not going to wrestle him. I’m beating him.’ I was like, ‘Cool.’

“That’s why me and Punk never wrestled. ‘He said, ‘F*** it, I gotta beat this f***er.’”

CM Punk made his big return to Raw last week and cut a promo during the main event segment. Nash commented on the promo and said that it seemed “very contrived.”

As of this writing CM Punk is currently being advertised for this week’s episode of SmackDown. Stay tuned for updates.
