Kenny Omega has been one of the top stars in the wrestling industry for some time now, but unfortunately he has been out of action since December of 2023 after it was discovered that he had diverticulitis.
Fightful Select is reporting that Kenny Omega underwent surgery last week to treat his diverticulitis. According to the report Kenny Omega underwent surgery in New York on May 16.
At this point in time AEW does not have any creative plans for Kenny Omega as it’s expected that he has a lengthy recovery ahead of him following the surgery.
During a recent Twitch stream Kenny Omega confirmed he would be undergoing surgery soon when he said, “I have a wonderful doctor that I was able to find. And he is someone who is the top — the top of his field. And he is very hard to get appointments with and he’s very hard to get surgeries with. However, he has done me a solid and I will actually be getting surgery very, very, very soon.”
Even though Kenny Omega is not cleared to compete he did recently return to AEW programming to do an angle with The Elite which set up the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing.
