The United States Champion Kalisto is injured according to WWE. Earlier today they announced that Kalisto will not be competing on this week’s episode of SmackDown due to injuries that he suffered at the hands of Rusev. However, it was also announced that Kalisto is still planning to defend his title at Extreme Rules. WWE posted the following WWE.com:
Due to injuries sustained at the hands of Rusev on Raw, United States Champion Kalisto is unable to compete on this week’s SmackDown, WWE.com has learned.
WWE medical staff confirmed that Kalisto suffered a strained intercostal muscle and erectus spinae muscle, attributed to Rusev’s Accolade submission maneuver.
Despite his injuries, Kalisto is still planning on defending his U.S. Title against The Super Athlete this Sunday at Extreme Rules.
Kalisto is “injured” but the US Title match is still on for Sunday. It’s still real to WWE DAMMIT!!!
