This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw aired live from Glasgow, Scotland and John Cena kicked off the show. The former WWE Champion was heavily booed as he made his way down to the ring.
Cena said that it seems as though the fans have something they want to say to him and they continued to boo. He told everyone that he has turned the spotlight on them and he can rip any one of them to shreds right now, no one is safe. John brought up the kid he “put on blast” last week and the fans chanted “F*** you Cena!”
He went to tell the fans in the arena that they’re all terrible people, and tonight they’re going to pay for the abuse they put him through for 25 years. The fans chanted “Shut the f*** up!”
Cena claimed he’s been studying the fans, so he knows them better than they know themselves. He said that the truth is their lives are sad, and they will always tell him everything about themselves, because they desperately want to matter.
John Cena recalled how the fans ate him alive when he introduced the spinner belt. He told them it was the biggest mistake they ever made as they told him what matters most to them in life, so now he’s going to ruin wrestling for every fan, every wrestler, for everyone when he wins his 17th championship. He said he’s going to force the fans to forget the name Ric Flair, but even worse he’s going to win the WWE Championship, and retire with it.
Cena told the fans that when he takes the title they will have to create a new toy belt, so he will be the last ever champion in WWE, and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop him.
Cody’s music hit and The American Nightmare made his way down to the ring. John Cena looked disgusted as the fans chanted for Cody Rhodes. Cody said if Cena’s going to take the WWE Championship away from the fans, he’s going to have to take it away from him first.
Rhodes asked Cena if he wants to take the title then placed it on the mat in front of him. Cena and Cody threw down their microphones. It looked like Cena was going to attack Cody, but he left the ring instead as the fans booed. Cody picked up the mic again then screamed “JOHN” as Cena turned around. Cena walked back to the ring as Cody took off his coat. However, Cena left again.
The American Nightmare said he can’t let Cena take the title because his need to take it doesn’t outweigh the need for him and the fans to keep it. He finished up by saying that Cena will walk away from WrestleMania and WWE empty handed.
