John Cena is one of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling and he spent years working as the face of WWE. It’s safe to say that Cena is well off financially nowadays, but his wrestling career started off with a very humble beginning.
While speaking with Kevin Hart on Heart to Hart, John Cena talked about getting his start with WWE and he revealed that he was only making $12,000 a year from his first contract with the company
“My first contract with WWE was $12,000 a year. I quit my job the day I was signed. I think my rent was $1,000 a month. So all my money is now rent. When I told my mom, she’s like, ‘I hope you’re okay.’ My dad, I could have told him any other position and he would have been like, ‘Yeah, whatever,’ but I told him I got a job with WWE. ‘Oh, my son. This is unreal. It’s going to great. I can’t believe it.’ Still, to this day, he’s extremely proud.”
John Cena recently made his surprise return to WWE at Money in the Bank last weekend. The former WWE Champion teased that WrestleMania could potentially be held in England at some point in the future, but it remains to be seen if WWE will actually end up moving forward with that idea.
