Ahead of Day 1 Raw last week Triple H teased the return of a former WWE Champion. When it was time for the former WWE Champion to appear Jinder Mahal made his entrance which resulted in an interesting reaction from the fans. Ultimately the mood in the arena changed pretty quick as Jinder was interrupted by The Rock shortly after making his way to the ring.

Jinder was featured in another big segment on Raw this week which set up a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins that’s currently set for Raw next week.

The booking of the match was criticized by Tony Khan who questioned why Jinder would be getting a title shot despite the fact that he hasn’t won a match in a year. Khan referenced Hook’s win record which prompted Jinder Mahal to respond to Tony Khan and ask who Hook is. As the exchange was unfolding Jinder Mahal became a trending topic on social media.

Recently Jinder Mahal was asked about the reaction to his Day 1 Raw return on The Bump and he said that it was nothing new to him while referencing the fact that he was recently trending on social media.

“It was nothing new to me. The WWE Universe has always reacted to me in such fashion. There’s a famous shot when I became WWE Champion, the pan into the crowd and everybody’s jaw is hitting the floor. I don’t understand why the WWE Universe is surprised when the Modern Day Maharaja returns or becomes champion.

Let’s face it, I am the prototype of what every superstar should be, the prototype of what every champion should be. I look the part, I speak the part, I speak with intelligence, I speak the truth. I bring it in the ring, I have been in there with possibly the greatest competitors of all time in our business, the likes of Randy Orton, John Cena, Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, so again, I’m insulted by the reactions but it was a great start to the new year until I was interrupted by The Rock. But nonetheless, this past week, was in the ring with Seth Rollins, told him exactly how I feel, and now I’m number one contender to the world heavyweight champion. I was trending on Twitter all day yesterday [laughs], and somehow, again, the Modern Day Maharaja is the talk of the town.”

Stay tuned for more updates on Jinder Mahal’s big WWE World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins as they become available.
