Fans were thrilled to see AJ Styles make his WWE debut in January of 2016, and he quickly made his way to the top of WWE and captured the WWE Championship. Looking back on his WWE run, he’s spent most of his time as a heel, but the fans don’t see it that way.
Despite the fact that AJ Styles is booked to be a bad guy, the fans still cheer him everywhere he goes. It doesn’t matter what AJ Styles does, the fans still support him.
AJ faced off against Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33, and Tuesday night on the SmackDown after Mania, Styles confronted McMahon in the ring. Styles and McMahon have been feuding for weeks, but instead of continuing the feud, AJ decided to shake McMahon’s hand.
It certainly seems like AJ Styles is heading for a face turn, and in his latest blog WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross says it looks like WWE officials are making a strategic move with the Phenomenal One.
“Seems like AJ Styles is heading to fan favorite land which is a strategic move for sure. Fans have a hard time jeering excellence and that’s what AJ brings to the dance.”
Next week the WWE landscape will change, as Vince McMahon recently announced that a Superstar Shake-up is on the way. It’s rumored that AJ Styles may be moving to Raw, which is why it’s a good thing that WWE called up Shinsuke Nakamura, because SmackDown’s going to need him.
Jim Ross also commented on Shinsuke’s debut, and he believes that Nakamura will be able to quickly advance to the main event picture.
“Loved seeing Shinsuke Nakamura debut on SDLIVE and I have ample optimism that the King of Strong Style will advance quickly into he main event picture. If Shinsuke can improve his English a bit he will complete the circle of what’s needed to ascend to the top of the WWE cards. Nakamura as a fan favorite does not need a manager and will be much more effective as a protagonist if he can communicate for himself. Nonetheless, @ShinsukeN is a tremendous “get” for SDLIVE.”
