Jim Ross is currently a member of the commentary team for All Elite Wrestling, but JR spent a number of years working with WWE. During his time with WWE he called more than his fair share of Randy Orton matches, and it appears that The Viper impressed Ross with his performances.

Ross praised Randy Orton on a recent episode of Grilling JR and noted that he thinks the former WWE Champion will no doubt be a Hall of Famer someday.

“He’s gonna end his career as one of the greatest. He’ll be a Hall of Famer, no doubt. He’s also gonna be regarded by his peers as one of the greatest in-ring workers that they ever worked with of this generation, so it [hiring Orton] worked out well.”

Ross convinced Vince McMahon to hire Randy Orton back in 2001, although he admitted that Vince McMahon was hesitant when it came to signing Orton due to his past with the military. In the end it seems that Jim Ross was able to convince him, and the rest is history.
