For weeks not the wrestling world has been talking about Backlash and the show finally aired live from Tampa, Florida on Saturday night. Bron Breakker defeated Seth Rollins in the opening match, and Trick Williams followed up with a big win over Sami Zayn in the second match. Danhausen teamed up with a mini Danhausen to defeat The Miz & Kit Wilson, and Iyo Sky battled Asuka in the fourth match of the night.
Asuka vs. Iyo Sky was aggressive from the start and some “we want Kairi” chants broke out after a few minutes. At one point Iyo and Asuka were battling on top of the announce table. Asuka tried to spit the mist in Iyo’s face, but Iyo held up a notepad which she used to block the mist.
Back in the ring Asuka put Iyo Sky in the Asuka Lock, but she reversed it into a pin. Sky then connected with a running knee in the corner then a moonsault off the tope rope and then pinned Asuka to win the match.
After the match Iyo showed respect to Asuka as she bowed. Asuka started crying then she hugged Iyo and kissed her on the cheek before holding Iyo’s arm up.
