When we reported Impact Wrestling had signed a deal with AAA yesterday, we tried to explain the fact that this was a bit of a surprising deal, to say the least.
Konnan was telling people that part of his deal with Impact Wrestling meant Anthem Sports would help the Crash Luchas acquire a television deal. It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Fight Network, which is owned by Anthem wants to “air every major league group aside from WWE and the companies WWE has strong working relationships with.” Therefore, this American TV deal for the Crash Luchas still very well might be on the table.
However, Crash Luchas and AAA are bitter enemies. This is why it was so interesting to us when Matt Hardy blatantly threw his support toward Konnan’s company. A Crash vs. Impact pay-per-view show is still tentatively scheduled to be filmed on April 3rd, therefore it looks like Impact will be playing both sides of the fence for now.
It was noted that those inside close to the situation say Konnan has been put in a “bad position” due to the deal between Impact Wrestling and AAA.
