A few months ago Matt and Jeff Hardy parted ways with Impact Wrestling, but the separation has been anything but pretty. Shortly after the brothers left the promotion, they surprised everyone when they showed up at ROH Manhattan Mayhem and defeated The Young Bucks to become the new Ring Of Honor Tag Team Champions.
When Matt and Jeff first arrived in ROH, they were playing up the Broken Matt Hardy and Brother Nero characters, but they had to tone things down in the weeks that followed, because Impact Wrestling sent out cease and desist letters claiming they are the rightful owners of the characters.
The cease and desist letters started a great war between House Hardy and Impact Wrestling and now both sides are fighting for the rights to the gimmick.
Matt Hardy seems confident that things will work out in his favor, as he recently told a fan on social media that his “CONDISHTION” will fully return.
Now Impact Wrestling has made another move in the legal battle, as PWInsider reports that on April 28. 2017, TNA Entertainment registered to trademark “Broken Matt,” “Brother Nero,” “Vanguard1” and “Broken Brilliance.”
Matt filed a trademark for “Broken Matt Hardy” on March 1st, and at this point the belief is that WWE wants to use the gimmick once everything is all said and done, so we’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out.
