The big TNA Wrestling Lockdown pay-per-view aired live on Sunday, and Leon Slater defeated Cedric Alexander in a new Last Man Standing Steel Cage match to become the new X-Division Champion.
Later in the show Leon Slater announced that he would be exercising Option C as he planned to vacate the X-Division Championship so he can challenge Nic Nemeth for the TNA Wrestling World Championship at Bound For Glory.
With the X-Division Championship now vacant, Santino Marella has announced that a series of qualifying matches will be held, and the winner of each match will advance to a six way match for the X-Division Championship at Bound For Glory.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it is I, Santino Marella, the Director of Authority. Leon Slater has exercised Option C which means he will challenge for the TNA World Title. In light of that, he has vacated the X-Division Championship, and we will be starting a series of qualifying matches in which the winner of each match will then be in a six-way match for the X-Division title at Bound for Glory.”
