The WWE main roster has been going through a major shake up as of late as over two dozen wrestlers were released. It’s also been reported that the company has been asking numerous talent to take pay cuts, and some of them have accepted the cuts.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that while there’s been talk of a large number of talent taking pay cuts those in a position to know have said that the actual number was less than half a dozen. It was also noted that the talent who accepted the pay cuts would have been cut had they not accepted it.
According to the report the people who accepted the pay cuts were not “high end players” and were people that creative had little interest in going forward. The idea is they could remain under contract while their in-ring career phased down, which are terms that some accepted, and some didn’t.
Everyone who was asked to take a pay cut in order to stay with the company has been informed of it, and there’s no expectation of of anyone on the roster being surprised by a similar situation moving forward.
Stay tuned for updates.
