It’s WrestleMania weekend, and all eyes are on the Superstars of WWE. But on Friday night it was the stars of NXT who stepped into the spotlight at TakeOver: New York.
Johnny Gargano faced off against Adam Cole in the main event, and the two fought for the vacant NXT Championship in a 2 out of 3 falls match.
In the end it was Johnny Gargano who won the gold, and Gargano also made history in the process.
Gargano is a former NXT Tag Team Champion and NXT North American Champion, and with the NXT Title win Johnny Gargano became the first NXT Triple Crown winner in the history of the brand.
