Goldberg made his return to WWE a few months ago and faced Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in what was one of the most shocking upsets in WWE history.
Goldberg then returned to Monday Night Raw following his Survivor Series win and despite the fact that he said he would only wrestle one match, he said that Stephanie had convinced him to be a part of the 2017 Royal Rumble.
Brock Lesnar obviously then responded to say that he too would be in the Royal Rumble match as WWE celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the annual over-the-top battle royal and it seems that they are going all out with the people they are including in the match.
A report that was recently put together by Ringside News is now claiming that Goldberg will make an incredible thirteen appearances in his lead up to WrestleMania 33.
This means that Goldberg will likely be appearing at almost every Raw event in the next three months since WrestleMania this year takes place on April 2nd. Currently, the former WCW star has signed up for three fights that include the 2017 Royal Rumble match and the epic rematch between Brock Lesnar and himself at WrestleMania 33.
The definite appearances that Lesnar will be making include next week’s first episode of Raw of the new year, then again on the January 23rd episode of Monday Night Raw in a few weeks time.
There are many rumours now circulating about who the third match for Goldberg may actually be against, as well as why there are still another 10 appearances that Goldberg will be expected to make leading up to what is thought to be his final match of his run at WrestleMania 33.
Thirteen appearances could mean that Goldberg actually appears on WWE TV more than Lesnar in the coming months, but because of how much Lesnar costs to book and fly out every week, WWE often takes the cheaper option of having Paul Heyman appear and do a lot of the build up for his client instead.
The rematch is still only a rumour as well, but it is fully expected for Goldberg and Lesnar to be given their rematch after that match that lasted less than two minutes at Survivor Series back in November.
It will be interesting to see how WWE books the match at WrestleMania though since Goldberg was the first person to pin Lesnar in more than three years, for once Lesnar will be on the defensive and even if he manages to defeat Goldberg, he will still have that defeat over him.
Moving forward, WWE needs to start building towards the Royal Rumble over the next few weeks, especially since they are hoping that this one will be one of the biggest events to ever take place.
Goldberg and the former winner in Lesnar just being in the match makes it so much bigger, and there are rumoured matches like AJ Styles vs Shawn Michaels, and the inclusion of many Texas natives like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker and Sting in the event itself.
It is a big shock to many fans that Goldberg will make so many appearances over the next few months and it could be much more than the WWE Universe expected and it could mean that Goldberg will appear at some live shows as well.
Of course, the unpredictability of the Rumble means that Lesnar and Goldberg may not even meet at the Rumble, but there has to be some sort of build to allow the feud between the two heavyweights to continue to feud.
As well as The Royal Rumble and WrestleMania33 it is highly likely that Golberg will also make an appearance at FastLane in March because it has now exclusively been made a Raw event and the company will expect that to be the final build on pay-per-view for a match with Lesnar, this could also be the place where Goldberg’s third fight takes place.
Either way, it is interesting that WWE has signed Goldberg on for so many appearances, it seems that the company has some major plans for the former fighter and it could well make WWE worth watching over the next few months.
