Shortly after The Fiend debuted it was clear that the fans were intrigued by him, and it wasn’t long before he won the Universal Championship.

The Fiend’s title reign lasted for a few months before he was defeated by Goldberg at Super ShowDown in February, and WWE faced a lot of backlash from fans for putting the belt on Goldberg.

WrestleZone is reporting that Goldberg going over was a last minute decision, and that Goldberg didn’t want to risk damaging his image.

Goldberg reportedly bargained for creative control, and pushed to beat The Fiend for the Universal Title, because The Fiend is a monster and he wanted younger kids to see him come out victorious so it didn’t ruin his character.

It’s also being reported that WrestleMania 36 was Goldberg’s final appearance with WWE under his current deal, which is why he dropped the belt to Braun Strowman. Goldberg had no intention of adding more dates to his deal.

Goldberg may not be looking to add any more future dates on his end, but it was also noted that WWE may not be rushing to work with him again due to the creative changes that were made in Saudi Arabia.
