It was a big week in the world of professional wrestling as CM Punk joined AEW, and fans saw Becky Lynch and Brock Lesnar return at SummerSlam.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the relationship with FOX and WWE is always up and down due to WWE promoting NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service on SmackDown.
CM Punk has a positive relationship with FOX due to the deal he made with the network for WWE Backstage. FOX was reportedly very upset that WWE didn’t make CM Punk an offer to keep him from going to AEW.
Politically WWE felt the need to get Becky Lynch and Brock Lesnar on the SmackDown brand right away. It’s also being reported that Brock Lesnar’s return was a last minute deal that was put together for a number of reasons relating to FOX.
