WWE released a number of wrestlers back in September and Nic Nemeth (formerly known as Dolph Ziggler) was one of the more surprising names who got cut. Nemeth was on the WWE roster for almost two decades and some fans have argued over the years that the company should have done more with him.
While working in WWE as Dolph Ziggler, Nic Nemeth was able to capture numerous championships, but was never able to solidify himself as someone that belonged at the top of the card consistently.
During a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho, Nic Nemeth was asked about rumored heat with Vince McMahon and he said, “Let me squash that rumor, because it’s a fact.”
Nic Nemeth went on to say that Pat Patterson was one of his biggest supporters, but ultimately Pat’s support ended up working against him when ideas were pitched during creative meetings.
“It got to a point where he was pitching for me so much for years that the second highest [executive] that there could be in a meeting at that point was like, ‘Yeah, we’re just to a point where we’re just making you lose just to watch his face.’ And I go, ‘Oh, that’s not a great way to run the company.'”
Since becoming a free agent Nic Nemeth has made appearances on NJPW programming and TNA programming. It seems that 2024 is shaping up to be a big year for the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, so it will be interesting to see where he goes from here.
