There have been some big WWE departures in 2026, and fans were surprised when it was reported back in April that Road Dogg had finished up with the company. According to the reports Road Dogg stepped away from his job on the WWE creative team and quit the company entirely.
During a recent episode of The Coach and Bro Show with Vince Russo, Jonathan Coachman claimed that Road Dogg was actually fired due to his support for Chelsea Green.
“I mean, a guy got fired. He got fired over his support for Chelsea Green. Let’s say what it is. Brian James got fired. Yeah, that’s what happened because he thought Chelsea, and it’s amazing now, whatever it’s been, six months, a year since he left, and now I wonder what he feels about when he sees her on top, and he’s like, ‘I’ve already, I said that a year ago or a year and a half ago.’ That’s got to be so incredibly frustrating.”
Despite the fact that Jonathan Coachman is claiming Road Dogg was fired that has not been confirmed nor reported by any other outlets. Road Dogg has been pretty open when it comes to discussing his departure and he noted a few months ago that he left because he wasn’t having fun anymore.
“I wasn’t having any fun. It got to be so much work, that it stopped being fun. I actually stayed longer than I wanted to just out of fear of unemployment. I didn’t do well with my money. I’m a drug addict and recovering alcoholic. I didn’t manage my money well. That fear of the unknown kept me for a long time. I was about to go into a meeting, and my wife told me on the phone, ‘I lived with you in a tent.’ I said, ‘I’m coming home right now.’ If you lived with me in a tent, I don’t need to pay the mortgage.”
Since parting ways with WWE earlier this year Road Dogg has since been making appearances on the independent circuit and he recently returned to the ring at Jeff Jarrett’s All-Star Super Slam last month.
