Twitter makes it easy for wrestlers to connect with their fans, and it also makes it easy for wrestlers to voice their opinions. Recently former WWE Tag Team Champion Scotty 2 Hotty took to Twitter to let promoters know that he’s not interested in competing in intergender matches when he posted the following:
“Dear promoters, I DO NOT ‘fight’ women. I’m 49 & have a 20 year old daughter. ‘Hurting’ women isn’t appealing to me. I understand that there are men that do it these days. It’s just not my thing. If that makes me old or out of touch, I’ll take it. Please stop trying to book it.”
Scotty 2 Hotty, real name Scott Garland, also posted a follow up tweet which said, “Also, before my matches from 20+ years ago with Linda Miles, Chyna, or any other women are brought up, I know what I did. It was a different time, a different place, & I wasn’t a father to a 20 yr old daughter.”
After voicing his personal opinion on why he doesn’t want to be a part of intergender matches Scotty 2 Hotty found himself on the receiving end of some backlash from fans online. He then followed up by deactivating his Twitter account.
It’s unclear at this point in time if Scotty 2 Hotty could return to Twitter in the future, but a screenshot of his tweet can be seen below.
The internet trolls made Scotty 2 Hotty deactivate just because of a perfectly reasonable take he tweeted out about his own profession.
