CM Punk made his AEW debut back in August of 2021, but it seems that Punk’s run with the company could be coming to an end. Following the backstage altercation involving CM Punk, Ace Steel and The Elite at All Out it’s been reported that Punk isn’t expected to return as AEW is looking to buy out his contract.
There’s also speculation that the new WWE regime could be interested in bringing CM Punk back under the right circumstances. Former WWE official Jimmy Korderas addressed a possible CM Punk return on Reffin Rant, and he questioned whether or not it would actually be a good thing for the company.
“WWE right now, under the guidance of Triple H, aka Paul Levesque, is doing well. They’re hitting the right notes right now. They’re elevating their product. They’re in a groove. Do you need someone who has the reputation of Punk backstage to disrupt what seems to be a good locker room environment right now? It would be controversial. It would draw some attention, but at the same time, do you want to take a chance of stirring the pot a little too much?”
