There’s been a lot of talk about contracts in the wrestling world recently and a number of former WWE stars have signed with All Elite Wrestling over the last few years. Back in 2021, Paul Wight made the jump to AEW, and it looks like he will be staying with the company for the foreseeable future.
Fightful Select is reporting that sources in AEW have confirmed to Sean Ross Sapp that Paul Wight’s contract with the company was coming up this year.
However, the belief is that Wight agreed to a new deal that will keep him with the company. The length of the deal is unknown at this point in time, but the belief is that Paul Wight is firmly under contract with All Elite Wrestling.
Last month Paul Wight indicated during an interview that he might not get a retirement match when he said, “I know there’s a big current thing where everybody wants to write their story, which I’m so sick of hearing. Not everybody gets a story. I may not get a story. I may not get a retirement match. I’m very real about this. I have to do certain things and hold myself accountable to get to a position so that I can compete for fun. For no other reason other than I want to have fun in the ring.”
Paul Wight has not stepped into the ring since he wrestled on the Jericho Cruise on 1/29/2024. He last wrestled on AEW programming on the 11/15/2023 episode of Dynamite.
